Venous Ultrasound

Advanced Vein Treatments

Varicose veins and other symptoms can be signs of an underlying circulation problem. At Illinois Vein Specialists, we use comprehensive evaluation and venous ultrasound to identify the root cause of your symptoms before recommending treatment.

Our minimally invasive treatment options are designed to address diseased veins, improve circulation, and help you get back to normal activities with minimal downtime.

Ablación por radiofrecuencia (ARF)

Radiofrequency Ablation uses a thin catheter placed into the diseased vein under ultrasound guidance. Controlled radiofrequency energy heats the vein wall, causing it to collapse and seal closed.

Once the vein is closed, blood naturally reroutes through healthier veins. RFA is performed as a minimally invasive, office-based procedure and typically allows patients to return to normal daily activities relatively quickly.

Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT)

EVLT is a minimally invasive treatment used to reduce chronic venous hypertension caused by malfunctioning veins. Under ultrasound guidance, a thin laser fiber is positioned inside the affected vein and delivers energy that causes the vein to close.

Blood is then redirected through healthy veins, reducing the abnormal pressure contributing to varicose veins and other symptoms.

VenaSeal™

Using vascular ultrasound for guidance, a catheter is positioned inside the affected vein and a small amount of medical adhesive is delivered to seal it closed.

Because VenaSeal™ does not use heat to close the vein, only a small amount of local anesthetic is typically required. Once the diseased vein is sealed, blood naturally redirects through healthier veins.

Varithena®

Varithena® is an FDA-approved microfoam treatment for certain varicose veins. The specialized foam is delivered into the diseased vein, causing it to collapse and close.

As the treated vein closes, blood is redirected through healthier veins in the area. Over time, the closed vein is naturally absorbed by the body.

Escleroterapia

Sclerotherapy uses an injectable solution to close unwanted veins. At Illinois Vein Specialists, it may be used for deeper varicose veins under ultrasound guidance as well as superficial and cosmetic veins closer to the skin.

Treatment is tailored to the size and location of the affected veins, with ultrasound or VeinLite® guidance used when appropriate.
